Long tradition in rock
drilling business
Atlas Copco Secoroc was acquired by Atlas Copco in 1988,
but we have a much longer tradition and history in the
rock drilling business. Since the 16th century the mines
and the “steel of Fagersta” have been well known in rock
breaking operations - first locally, but eventually all
over the world. As early as 1943 we introduced the first
Integral with a cemented carbide chisel insert (a
product non-existent in the rest of the world). The 50's
and 60's saw the product range expand with the
introduction of extension equipment and in 1971 the
Secoroc brand was established. Centuries of being part
of mining operations and steel industries have been the
ground for our developed competence, knowledge and
experience – all ingredients that have brought Atlas
Copco Secoroc to a world-leading position as a designer,
manufacturer and supplier of rock drilling tools.
Our more recent history involves acquisitions and
mergers (Baker Hughes Mining Tools 2004 and
Ingersoll Rand Drilling Solutions 2004) to further
develop our product portfolio, and we now stand proud as
one of the driving forces and market leaders in the
industry.
